Bio
As a former middle school Family & Consumer Sciences teacher, Kennedy has coached students through difficult situations and helped parents support their teens at home. Kennedy’s passion for helping families motivated her to earn a Master’s in Family Science from Concordia St. Paul and become a Certified Family Life Educator and Trauma-Informed Youth, Parent, and Family Coach.
Kennedy believes it’s never been more challenging to be a teen or a parent of a teen, which prompted her transition from the classroom to create The Family Room: a dedicated space for teens and their families to thrive.
Kennedy specializes in helping families connect through improved communication and setting effective boundaries. She also supports parents navigating overwhelming emotions and behaviors by encouraging households to function without the need for raised voices, shame, or punishment. Kennedy says the best part about coaching is getting to know the uniqueness of and empowering families.
Kennedy offers coaching services at school, at home, and virtually. She also facilitates teen-only and parent-teen connection events and is a CCS Provider in Chippewa County.
For fun, Kennedy enjoys trying new restaurants and recipes, challenging family members to a game of Uno, and playing with her 90-pound Golden Retriever, Miller.
If you would like additional Parent Coaching support after four sessions, there will be an opportunity to join a group of parents who have been through Parent Coaching. The group will have confidential guidelines and be facilitated by Kennedy.
